How to set goals for 2019 – 4 tips to make it joyful and increase your chance of success
There is such great energy at this time of year. A sense that you can start fresh and create something that you love.
It is a great time to consider setting goals, intentions and even resolutions for 2019.
I decided to make a video to share some tips in setting goals for 2019. This follows a process I worked through courtesy of Verve Super called “The Little Book of Verve”
You don’t need to change. You are perfect as you are. Setting goals is about becoming more of who you are.
Here are my top 4 tips on goal setting for 2019. Along with 2 bonus tips!!
How to set goals for 2019 – 4 tips to make it joyful and to increase your chance of success
No time to read a blog? Watch the video here.
#1 – Start with reflection
To know where we are going it helps to know where we have been. Taking time to reflect makes meaning of our experiences, allows us to grow and teaches us what we need to know to succeed.
#2 – Have compassion for yourself
Nobody is perfect. We all make mistakes. With 20/20 hindsight, it is easy to see how we could have done things differently.
It is so important to have compassion for yourself and the decisions you have made.
You can set goals from a place of “becoming better” rather than fixing something that is “broken” if you are coming from a place of self compassion.
#3 – Focus on a few areas
The more goals we set the more we spread our energy around. Pick a few key areas that you want to focus on in 2019.
My key areas are health, creativity and income.
#4 – Have crystal clarity on success
How will you know if you meet your goal? How is it measured? How can you track it to see how you are progressing towards success?
For example I plan to use a colouring in visual, colouring in my progress as I track towards my goal.
Two bonus tips
The two extra tips are finding someone to help keep you accountable and plan a way to celebrate your success.
You are more likely to achieve your goal if you have someone to share and track your progress with.
Don’t forget to incentivise yourself with rewards and celebrations along the way.
Here’s to your success in 2019.
With love and gratitude,
Suzanna
